How this Custom Set Helps New England Biolabs Connect
Introduction
New England Biolabs is a life sciences company recognized as the industry leader in molecular biology products. A few years ago, when New England Biolabs Canada was celebrating its 50th anniversary, New England Biolabs commissioned a custom Playwell Bricks lab set as a special team gift.
The Challenge
This year, New England Biolabs returned to Playwell Bricks to commission another custom lab set. The client explained that they wanted this new set to be an extension of the first, and that this new set should physically connect to the original. There were also specific products and lab elements the client wanted this new set to display, such as a refrigerator and a lab bench.
The Solution
Using axle pieces, Playwell Bricks designer Eric Dubois Yang made it possible for the different sets to connect to each other in three different ways: on either side of each other, and the third to connect at a 90-degree angle.
The refrigerator and the lab bench were added, taking care to mind the client’s feedback to ensure this set came out as they envisioned it would. New England Biolab’s branding and products were incorporated into this set as decals, carefully designed in miniature by the Playwell graphics team.
The Result
With this custom Playwell Bricks lab set, New England Biolabs has a fully modular set that can connect to the previously commissioned set to give out to their team. By making this set a unique lab setting on its own, new team members have a gift to build and treasure, while older team members can build up their laboratory, making these sets a true collector’s item.
