HRST, Inc. is an international supplier of heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) and boiler-related technical products and services. They specialize in inspections, failure and performance analyses, design upgrades, training, and field services. When it was time to consider a gift that could be appreciated by employees, clients, and even trade show goers, they reached out to Playwell Bricks for a custom-designed HRSG.
Generating Steam
At their discovery call, the Playwell team showed the representative from HRST, Inc. a HRSG unit the team had previously designed for another client. “Oh my,” exclaimed the client. “That’s exactly what I was picturing in my head!”
There was one caveat, though. That original HRSG was created at 300 parts, well above the budget that HRST, Inc. set aside for their campaign. However, it did let the Playwell team know exactly what HRST, Inc. wanted. They just had to recreate the set at a smaller scale.
Design Matters
The client shared HRST, Inc.’s brand assets while Playwell designed Eric Dubois Yang set about designing the unit itself. Once the first concept was ready, it was shared with the client for feedback. These first concepts are designed to make sure Playwell is aligned with the client’s vision and are not expected to be the final version.
The client studied the concept, requesting that the details on the roof be redesigned with red to match the generators that HRST, Inc. deals with. From there, the client requested that Eric increase the number of round, barrel structures to three, the third replacing a pallet-like structure. Once these tweaks were complete, the client was happy to approve this design as the final model, sending this project into production and delivery.
Conclusion
