Vogt Power International has been operating since 1880, known then as the Henry Vogt Machine Company. Today, Vogt Power International specializes in the Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) they first produced 60 years ago. These HRSGs recover the heat from gas turbine exhaust and convert it into steam, which is used to create electricity.

A contact from Vogt Power International contacted Playwell Bricks to commission a custom Playwell Bricks set of one of their HRSGs. Not only were the holidays approaching, but their Thailand subsidiary office was celebrating their 15th anniversary. A custom HRSG set would make an ideal employee appreciation and milestone gift.

Playwell Bricks team member Thiago Brisolla designed this custom set using images and schematic renderings supplied by Vogt Power International. Once he had the first concept ready, he passed it along to the client, who then pointed out the details of the unit that needed to be represented in bricks; the insider knowledge that they and their team would know to look for.

Thiago quickly made the changes, including some colour changes that give this set a red pop of colour and Federal Aviation Authority lights along the highest parts of the tower. A logo was added to each side and, once approved, the set was test-built for stability.

“That’s my son!” Thiago exclaimed proudly when he first saw the images of the test set.

Vogt Power International also shared a brand message to be included in the Build Instructions, including labels with the real-life names of the brick parts being built to keep this set grounded in the real-life work these employees do every day. Like Vogt says in these instructions, “Teamwork makes the steam work!”
