Norway’s Havila Biogass is a network of industrial plants that converts agriculture and aquaculture waste into biogas. Once converted, this biogas becomes a fuel that can power industries on 100% green energy and zero emissions.
Updating an Original
A few years ago, Havila Biogass came to Playwell Bricks to commission a custom set of their biogas plant that they gave out to clients and partners on a regular basis. This year, they returned to Playwell Bricks for an updated set that encompasses the growth and changes the company has gone through since that first set.
That first set was designed in distinct modules and paired with content in the Build Instructions that explained what the components in each section were and what their purpose was. The idea was that once the builder finished each module, they would have an understanding of how those components worked. All of this should be preserved in the updated set, with added information for the new inclusions.
More Reactors, Fewer Cows
Playwell Bricks team member Eric Dubois Yang designed the original set and was delighted to return to this world for the update. Following the diagrams provided by the client, he added the reactors and tanks, adjusted the size as needed to ensure everything fit, and sent the new concept to the client.
From there, the client was able to point out details that would need adjustment in size and complexity. Unfortunately, one of the cows that Eric included in the original set as an Easter egg didn’t make it into the updated set, as the space was needed for the equipment to take care of the methane their real-life versions produce. But don't worry: one cow can still be seen grazing on the verge near the entrance road.
Once the client approved the changes, this updated set was ready for bulk production and delivery to Norway.
