Norway’s Havila Biogass came to Playwell Bricks looking for a custom set that would represent an industrial biogas plant while also having an educational component. After all, not everyone understands the processes of breaking down cow manure and fish waste into a biogas that can be used to fuel vehicles and as a substitute for natural gas. What a fun way to learn something new!

Playwell Bricks designer Eric Dubois Yang gathered up the references from Havila and started the design right away. “Since the client wanted the [model] builder to discover the different processes gradually, I divided the model into four modular sections, each one containing one step of the transformation.”

The building instructions for this custom Playwell Bricks set includes the explanations of these processes. “This makes the model not only a display piece, but also an immersive educational tool, which is super rewarding,” Eric says with excitement.

“Look out for the small cows on the grass!” adds Eric. “It’s a cute Easter egg and added a little life to an industrial setting.” Does it ever! He doesn’t point out the manure that goes with those cows, but I think we can all agree that’s a nice touch.

Once Havila Biogass signed off on the final design, this miniature biogas plant went into set production, with one hundred sets headed off to Norway.

After delivery, the CEO and owner of Havila Biogass, Kjell Evensgård, got back to Playwell Bricks to let us know he was pleased. “Great service. Great cooperation, great outcome!”
