After the COVID pandemic restrictions lifted, financial technology company Chime was eager to welcome their employees back to the office. They knew the transition from working from home back to the office would be tricky for some employees, so they set out to find a way to make this transition as easy as possible. What could be more welcoming than a custom set made from genuine LEGO® bricks? We might be a little biased, but we’re thinking Chime was onto something here.

When Chime came to Playwell Bricks with the idea of a desk with a minifig for every employee, they had a tight timeline for us to meet. Fortunately, our CEO Jason Pyett had previously designed a hacker station for Google. Using that computer desk design as a jumping-off point, he was able to save time by altering the details to better suit a large office setting, rather than starting from scratch.

Our team got to work making stickers of Chime’s logo for the computer on the desk. They followed up Chime’s smaller logo for a coffee cup filled with office fuel to sit beside the laptop, within easy reach of a minifig employee.

Those minifig employees are where Chime’s thoughtfulness really shone through. Rather than a standard minifig per desk, Chime requested us to create sets with an assortment of minifig parts so that each employee could build themselves. This way, everyone could have a mini version of their own workstation, including themselves, to decorate their office space.

What a fun welcome back to work gift!

Once Chime approved the designs, our team got to work on the instructions, ordering parts, putting together the 600 sets of this custom model, and shipping them to Chime’s offices. Chime got back to us a little later to let us know that everyone loved their sets, and we’re still smiling thinking of all the little minifigs sitting at their desks, decorating office cubicles.
