Akela Construction is an Alberta-based construction firm specializing in industrial and commercial projects. Whether it’s a brand new Canadian Tire store, an interior renovation, or an exterior renovation, Akela is ready to build for their clients.

With Christmas coming, Akela Construction found themselves in need of a corporate gift. The trick was to find something that would showcase their theme of building and construction, while also representing their unique branding. Of course, it was preferable if the company didn’t need to procure building permits to bring their gifting dreams to life. 😉

After contacting Playwell Bricks, Akela wondered if it would be possible to create a three-dimensional Playwell Bricks set of their logo; a howling wolf. They’d seen the recent Star Wars™ helmet sets that LEGO® produced and asked if the team could build their wolf in a similar style. “Absolutely,” Playwell Bricks assured them.

Playwell Bricks designer Pedro Lara started building the wolf’s jaw and mouth, then prepared a frame to hold the wolf upright. From there, the designer began sculpting the wolf’s fur with various bricks to achieve the same look and pattern as the wolf in Akela’ s logo.

After some back-and-forth between Lara and Akela to get the colours just right, Akela was delighted. These custom Playwell sets howled their way to Calgary for an extra-special Christmas building experience. Legend has it that Santa requested one to inspire the elves in his workshop after seeing them in his sleigh.😉
