Zscaler is a cloud-based cybersecurity company that’s developed the Zero Trust security model, a cybersecurity model that’s made for the age of AI. When the team at Zscaler wanted a custom client appreciation gift to give out at their events, they approached Playwell Bricks to commission something special.

The client explained that they wanted a custom set to give out to clients that attend events that Zscaler hosts for their skilled, certified champions. One of the ideas the client brought to their discovery call was for a standing computer desk with the Zscaler logo on the computer screen. 

The client’s vision grew as the discussion went on. They pictured a minifigure-sized desk, complete with minifigures (not pictured) that their clients could build to look like themselves. In addition to office accessories, the desk should include a Zscaler Certificate as a nod to the certification program these champions had completed.

Playwell Bricks’ Petrus Gartler designed this custom desk set. After gathering the office accessories available, he mocked up the first concept to share. 

The client had considered including a variety of accessories to include in each set, but ultimately decided it would be better to use their parts budget on a larger desk than these accessories. Don’t worry, the desk was still accessorized with a lamp and a mug. 

Including the certificate proved to be a challenge. This was included as a printed, rectangular brick. The client had hoped the certificate could lean on the desk as though it were framed, but the team was worried that having this certificate lying on the desk was the only practical solution for space and parts. Happily, a team member suggested a solution: a small clip to hold the printed brick upright.

With the client’s full approval, this set moved onto production and delivery to Zscaler’s events in North Las Vegas and Vienna.

Attendees had a lot of fun designing and accessorizing their mini-figs at our Certification Happy Hour, and the most ambitious folks assembled the sets right then and there!”
