Zimmerman Industries, a proudly family-owned and operated company, is home to the Zim-Mixer™ Volumetric Concrete Mixer. These Zim-Mixers™ are used all over the world in every segment of the concrete industry. So when Zimmerman Industries began searching for a client appreciation gift that would represent their business and their client relationships, they decided to commission a custom Playwell Bricks set of their very own Zim-Mixer™.
What Makes this Mixer So Special?
The Zim-Mixer of today has its roots in an invention Zimmerman Industries’ founder, Harold Zimmerman, developed in the 1960s. People needed concrete that could be mixed on-site and on demand, and Zimmerman had an idea that took the concept of a manure spreader, altered it, and placed it inside a bin that could both batch and mix the concrete, all on the back of its own delivery vehicle.
Over the next two decades, Zimmerman kept improving on that original idea until he debuted the Zim-Mixer™ in 1979. The technology he developed is still proprietary to Zimmerman Industries, Inc., and the family is as proud as ever of his work and the Zim-Mixer’s global success.
Designing the Zim-Mixer™
When working on a custom set that represents pride and craftsmanship, Playwell Bricks strives to reach the same ideals. Playwell Bricks designer Thiago Brisolla worked with multiple photos provided by Zimmerman Industries, tweaking here and there as Playwell’s contact at Zimmerman pointed out something that should be corrected.
"This is one of my best designs here at Playwell Bricks,” Thiago says. “I particularly like this model because the real Zimmerman truck has an awesome white design with nice geometric mixer containers. That said, I really pushed my creativity to represent the mixer containers as nicely as possible, and I’m quite happy with the result!"
