When Welker Inc. approached Playwell Bricks about a custom set, they made it clear that they wanted something that would work across the gifting spectrum, from tradeshows to milestone gifts for their team. After their budget was determined and details worked out, they decided that one of the products, the OdorEyes™ by Welker ECOsystem™ should be the subject for their custom Playwell Bricks set.

OdorEyes™ is Welker Inc.’s solution for natural gas odorization. For those not in the industry, odorization is the process whereby a strongly scented compound is added to natural gas (which is naturally odorless and colorless). The compound itself is called mercaptan, and is known for its rotten egg smell. Adding this compound makes it easier to detect leaks, protecting communities and properties. Welker, Inc. provides odorization services for gas utilities and pipeline operators.

The team at Welker, Inc. had a keen eye for detail as this set evolved, knowing exactly what they wanted. Certain surfaces were asked to be kept stud-free so the OdorEyes™ logo could be printed onto the bricks, while other details, like the stickers for the gauges, were tweaked for the right colour.

Playwell Bricks designer Isaac Wilder paid close attention to this feedback until Welker, Inc. was satisfied with the design, and this set moved into production. This attention to detail was rewarded when Welker Inc. returned to request another order of this set and provided this feedback, “10/10.
