Since 2007, Voyis Camera has been working toward its goal to help the world see undersea depths as clearly as we see the world around us. With a new product set to launch, the team at Voyis contacted Playwell Bricks to commission a custom-designed set of their new camera.
Undersea Imaging
Voyis Camera played a large role in the imaging that captured the Endurance22 mission in 2022, when Shackleton’s famed shipwreck, Endurance, was rediscovered in the Weddell Sea. In addition to undersea exploration and mapping, Voyis cameras are used in undersea pipeline and equipment inspection.
“Our team loves bricks,” the client explained in their discovery call. Their new camera, the Discovery Perception Stereo Series, would be launching at Oceanology International in early 2026, and they wanted a custom Playwell Bricks set of this new camera as a tradeshow giveaway oceanologists could take home as a reminder of Voyis’ new technology.
Playwell team member Eric Dubois Yang designed the set. “This was actually one of the rare models where the first version was also the final version we ended up using. The scale of the model started with the 2 x 2 round tiles. Then, the black section’s curve set the rest,” he recalls.
Instructions Marketing
“With the introduction of the Discovery Stereo Perception Series, Voyis advances underwater vision from imagery to true perception, giving subsea operators reliable, measurable 3D understanding of their environment,” Voyis explains in the Build Instructions, poising themselves on the cutting edge of undersea technology.
Since this camera was a new product, it was ideal for Voyis to include notes about the camera’s capabilities and specifications in the build instructions. Not only do these build instructions offer a unique marketing opportunity, but they also give the client a rare moment of the builder’s complete and undivided attention while they’re honed in on building.
