Vector Remote is a company that offers a software platform which allows medical teams to better manage the cardiac data received from pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, and similar devices. When they wanted a custom-designed employee gift, they contacted Playwell Bricks to see what was possible.

Playwell’s contact at Vector Remote explained that it was important to them to give their team a gift they’d actually want, which is why custom bricks sets caught their attention. Most of the Vector Remote team also work remotely, so the client was looking for a set that would showcase the Vector brand and could be displayed at a home workstation.

After some discussion, the client decided to go with Vector Remote’s stylized heart logo for their custom Playwell Bricks set. Their employees often commented on how much they liked the logo, and it would be the perfect way to show off Vector branding at remote work stations.

“This is one of, if not the favorite project I've worked on for Playwell Bricks,” designer Eric Dubois Yang says.
“While the scaling of the model was pretty straightforward (based off the diameter of the circles in the logo), the real challenge is to find a stable way to interconnect the different components with a bar. The bars were tricky because the connection points had to be stiff and those variants sometimes come with geometrical constraints,” Eric explains.

“Unlike the longer parts, the round dots weren't linked to the rest via a red bar in the logo. We managed to solve this by adding a second layer of light grey structure behind in order to make it attach while not standing out too much.

“The model sits at an angle for display, resembling a heart.

“The base of the model was made thicker to hold the connection point to the model, while being big enough for stability. Dark blue, red, and white were the three main branding colors, which is why the base is in a dark blue that complements the red, but that is also dark enough not to take away the spotlight.”

Once Vector Remote approved Eric’s design, Playwell Bricks began production and bulk manufacturing to ship these custom Vector logo sets to their team as an end-of-year appreciation gift.
