The Tuscaloosa Academy in Alabama (U.S.A.) was getting ready to break ground on a new athletic facility to serve the kindergarten through grade twelve students that attend the private school.

The client explained that they were looking for a small set that they could give out to their students to engage them in this new construction project. Beyond the safety factors, the Academy wanted their students to feel a connection to and familiarity with the new facility as it was being built.

Playwell Bricks designer Tim Howell brought this custom Playwell Bricks set to life. “The main challenge was that the budget called for a low part count, but the building to be represented was somewhat monumental,” explained Tim. “After going through a few options, I settled on a solution that used a few large parts to mimic the building’s façade and entry.”

The Academy included their gifting intentions in the brand messaging embedded into this custom set’s building instructions. “As you snap each brick together, imagine the real building being built on our campus. Every brick you place is just like the real work happening at TA. With this custom Playwell Bricks set, Tuscaloosa Academy has a small set to give to their students that will engage them and give them a sense of community with the new constructions. By building their brick version alongside the actual construction of the facility, the Tuscaloosa Academy forges a connection between the children the athletic facility before it even opens its doors, setting the stage for a successful future for the building and its role in campus life.
