Thermal Hazard Technology (THT) were in the market for a client gift. They wanted something that would represent their main product, the EV+ Accelerating Rate Calorimeter (ARC), in a way that would make their products more accessible, leave a lasting impression, and appeal to the human side of their professional relationships. That’s when they came to Playwell Bricks to request a custom set of their flagship calorimeter.

In the simplest terms, a calorimeter is a device that’s used to measure the heat involved in a chemical reaction. It gets quite a bit more complicated past that point, and that’s where employing a custom Playwell Bricks set to introduce such a product begins to shine. Through this custom set, potential clients get the chance to interact with the ARC’s structure and function in a hands-on way, encouraging understanding and familiarity in a way that’s both fun and truly engaging.

The final design of this calorimeter ended up being a team effort. Playwell Bricks CEO Jason Pyett began the design. “It was an interesting challenge to fit in all the functionality THT wanted into the design, as well as the interior details.” Playwell Bricks designer Petrus Gartler soon joined in to “help bring the design home,” Jason tells me. “It was nice to collaborate that way. And it’s always great to get a second perspective on how things can be done differently and achieve a better result in the end.”
