Introduction
Nobody knows calorimeters more than Thermal Hazard Technology (THT). They’re a world leader in the design, manufacture AND supply of calorimeters, after all. But, like many companies working in this kind of technology, it’s not exactly easy to get their tech into the hands of their potential clients.
THE CHALLENGE
THT wanted a gift that would allow their client to engage with their product. Something that captured the essence of their EV+ Accelerating Rate Calorimeter (ARC), a device used to measure heat from chemical reactions. Better yet, a gift that would allow THT’s clients to get to interact with their calorimeter from the comfort of their own homes and offices.
THE SOLUTION
THT commissioned a custom Playwell Bricks set of their calorimeter, taking the time to show our designers how the parts of the machine should interact and, since designing at a smaller scale than life size doesn’t allow for every detail, which details absolutely had to be included for the set to serve their purposes.
Playwell Bricks CEO Jason Pyett started the design himself. “It was an interesting challenge to fit in all the functionality THT wanted into the design, as well as the interior details,” he recalls. Playwell Bricks designer Petrus Gartler soon joined in to “help bring the design home,” Jason tells me. “It was nice to collaborate that way. And it’s always great to get a second perspective on how things can be done differently and achieve a better result in the end.”
Once THT were happy with the design, they signed off and Playwell Bricks produced 100 sets for their promotion. Now that the design is complete, THT can come back and order more sets as they need them!
