When Google needed a corporate gift set that would suit the rebrand of the Vulnerability Rewards Program to the Google Bug Hunters, their partner, Stink Studios, called on a creative young company named Playwell Bricks. Google wanted ten custom brick sets, one for each of the different facets of the Bug Bounty Hunter’s skill set.

Here at Playwell Bricks, our team is proud of these custom sets. They represent Playwell’s “big break” that changed the trajectory of CEO Jason Pyett’s plans for the business forever. Up until now, these sets have always been grouped together, but this post is a spotlight on just one of those ten sets: the Google Doodle.

The Google Doodle first appeared in 1998 and quickly became a beloved feature of the search engine giant. When Google wanted a representation of their famous Doodles among their custom Bug Hunter sets, the Stink Studios team selected the 2013 Doodle of Grace Hopper on what would have been her 107th birthday.

Grace Hopper was a computer programming pioneer. She held Ph.D.’s in mathematics and mathematical physics, was a Navy Reservist, a Professor, and over the course of her impressive career, she devised the theory that led to the development, which she was also involved in, of the first programming language. Grace Hopper also wrote the first ever computer manual. Unfortunately, none of the research done to prepare for this post revealed Hopper’s thoughts on bricks, but we think she would have been a fan.

When Playwell Bricks designed the custom Playwell Bricks set of this Google Doodle, the designers focused on the Google Doodle and the early computers therein.

Playwell Bricks was honored to recreate this icon and pioneer of computer programming as a custom set for the Google Bug Hunters program.
