Rosenberg Associates is a civil engineering firm located in southwestern Utah, U.S.A., that specializes in land surveying, grading, floodplains, structural plans, geotechnical testing, etc. They came to Playwell Bricks in search of a holiday gift for their clients that would represent these activities, specifying that they’d like to “keep in to the small side so people can keep it on their desks at work.”
A Rosenberg Work Truck
After some discussion, Playwell’s contact at Rosenberg Associates decided that their signature work truck would be the subject of their set. Playwell Bricks designed Eric Dubois Yang recreated this idea in bricks using photos of Rosenberg’s trucks.
Eric jokes that designing vehicles isn’t his forte, but the biggest challenge was keeping this truck under the specified brick count. A lot of that involves resisting the design temptation of adding details that eat up parts, and Eric was careful with this, even taking the time to consult with his fellow designers on whether the bed of the truck should remain open or closed.
In the Instructions
The team at Rosenberg Associates brought this project full circle in the opening letter they wrote for this custom Playwell Bricks set’s build instructions. In this letter, they explained their vision statement is “to be a driving force in improving the quality of life for the communities we serve.”
Building on that metaphor, they added, “You may recognize our trucks out in the field—this small block version is a lighthearted nod to the real vehicles you’ve seen around town, helping us do the work that shapes and supports our growing community.”
