RADIA operates in the machinery manufacturing sector, specializing in paint mixers and shakers. When they wanted something that would represent their brand and their employees would also treasure as a team gift, the movers and shakers at RADIA contacted Playwell Bricks to see about a custom set of their very own RADIA Auto Gyro.
The Auto Gyro
The Auto Gyro is an innovative mixer that takes high-volume mixers to the next level. Using a gyroscopic mixing motion (the unit spins the paint vertically and horizontally at the same time), this machine can handle multiple sizes, uses less energy, operates at a quieter decibel, and features an automatic pail extractor that keeps human users safer.
The custom Playwell Bricks set that the RADIA team pictured would have functionality: they wanted the door to open and the inside of the unit where the paint would go should be able to turn.
Designing the Auto Gyro in Bricks
Playwell Bricks team member Petrus Gartler designed the brick Auto Gyro for RADIA, carefully adding the requested functionality and even going so far as to add a gearbox on the brick unit. The team at RADIA loved Petrus’ first concept, and the only change they requested was that the studded bricks used on the Auto Gyro’s door be switched out to flat plates so that decals of RADIA’s logo could be placed there.
When asked, Petrus says that “the Auto Gyro was an interesting combination of integrating functions and get the model to match the actual product. Find the right scale is, as always, most important to getting the proportion right and to find suitable parts for all the characteristics details that the client will be looking for.”
The functionality that RADIA requested added “a fun little challenge due to the limited space inside the model,” he admits.
Happily, Playwell Bricks rose to the challenge, to the delight of the RADIA team. “Thank you so much! The model turned out great. I can't wait to hand them out to all the employees,” said Bob Brockman, Vice President of Sales and Marketing/New Product Development at RADIA.
