Our contact at PolyAI explained that, in this gift for their colleagues, they wanted to highlight PolyAI’s nerdier side (with the bricks) while also offering something “quintessentially British. We’ve always had an idea to make something out of the traditional London phone boes,” they explained.

But, and this is important, it was not to be a blue phone box. No, this should be the lime green of PolyAI’s branding. They also want this set to be small enough to pack into luggage. Whether it was bigger on the inside was left up to Playwell Bricks.

Playwell Bricks team member Petrus Gartler designed this brick phone box. “The set seemed to be straightforward at first,” he explains, though he did use some special techniques to get the top section of the box right.

“The client’s feedback was direct, friendly, and clear,” he goes on to say. “That was really helpful for me to understand and make the changes they requested.” The client knew exactly what they wanted, pointing out the need for more windows here, a door handle there.

Ultimately, Petrus added a proper brick door to reach the phone tucked inside for simplicity’s sake, and the client was thrilled. “I prefer this kind of communication,” Petrus admits. “It’s easier on me when the client is direct with what they want.”
