After coming across the custom mech set that Playwell Bricks designed for Google, they wondered if Playwell Bricks could create a custom set of their OPTOMAN for a client appreciation gift.

OPTOMAN provided Playwell Bricks with files and comic strips of their brand superhero for Playwell designers to work from. OPTOMAN lore is that he is “a Super-Optics Hero who designs, develops, and manufactures high-power and longevity Ion Beam Sputtered (IBS) laser optics.”

It was important to OPTOMAN that their hero’s comic elements be mixed with brick elements. For example, they preferred a classic minifigure face rather than a decal to match the comic strip. He should be holding the same superhero tools he wields in the comics, and OPTOMAN’s logo should be front and center.

The final design of this powerful superhero was accomplished by Eric Dubois Yang, with face and the OPTOMAN chest logo decals handled by Kostik Poloskin. This brick OPTOMAN holds his trusty laser mirror for blasting virus cells, and he comes with a removable stand to represent his state-of-the-art laboratory.
