Montgomery School is a private school in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania (U.S.A.) for kids in preschool through Grade 8. When the school wanted a unique gift for students, they turned to Playwell Bricks to commission a one-of-a-kind, truly playable gift.

At their discovery school, a representative from Montgomery School explained that they were looking for something special that represents the school. Playability was an important aspect, both for the kids and the brand, so they wanted to make sure their Playwell set wasn’t just something to build and set aside.

The client went on to explain that the school hosts Greek and Roman games every spring, a community tradition that culminates in a chariot race where an eighth-grader pulls a kindergartener in a chariot. The event is a highlight of the school year, and the school was interested in a set that showcases the race. The chariots should be the right size to fit a minifig (LEGO® person), and there should be flags and a scoreboard to set the scene, allowing the kids to recreate their favorite parts of the day.

Playwell Bricks designer Eric Dubois Yang brought this vision to life. Using the maroon and white colours, he designed a two-toned chariot to the client’s specification, then a treed area to carry the scoreboard and flags. The Montgomery School logo, scores, as well as the Greek and Roman symbols for the flags, were added via decals prepared by the Playwell Bricks graphics design team.

Finally, this design was sent to the Playwell test builder, Mikki Young, to make sure that this set was as fun to play with as the client hoped for. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it. After getting the thumbs up from the test builder, this set was off to the chariot races.
