Momentus builds the software that powers some of the largest venues and events in the world. In March of 2026, Momentus planned to bring its users together in Denmark for three days of inspiration and insight in a conference named Illuminate.
The Client's Vision
Playwell’s contact at Momentus explained that they were looking for a take-home gift for their Illuminate attendees. It was important that this custom Momentus gift incorporate the Momentus logo somehow.
“We try to be fiercely thoughtful in our corporate swag,” said the client. Something branded that Momentus users would also like to have and display on their desks. Ideally, this set would be fun, quirky, and have some sort of movement.
Designing Movement
The Playwell Bricks team member who designed this set considered the Momentus’ starburst and how they might include movement. It wasn’t long before they created a fidget-type model, where the Momentus starburst was held up from a base and builders could spin the starburst freely.
At first, the other members of the Playwell team were concerned that, while definitely fun, quirky, and containing movement, this wouldn’t be stable enough to sit freely on someone’s desk while spinning. However, the designer stood by the design, building it out of their personal stash of bricks and taking a video of themselves being rather rough with the completed model. This is something Playwell designers often refer to as “the Jason test.”
The designer had proved the design could hold, and the Playwell team was impressed, apologizing for ever doubting the designer.
Instructional Matters
The team at Playwell Bricks always encourages clients to include a personal message in the build instructions, and Momentus took advantage of these to pull together the elements of brick building that match their brand best. Here’s an example:
“Just like these bricks, every insight, best practice, and connection you gathered at Illuminate is a piece of a bigger picture. When combined, they create something dynamic—something that moves, just as we hope to help you advance your strategic goals.”
