By commissioning this custom Playwell Bricks set for their promotional giveaway, Mitsubishi Electric turned a technical product into a hands-on experience that sparks curiosity and conversation. Playwell Bricks team member Kostik Poloskin designed the HVAC units. “One of the most interesting challenges was creating the oval air intake on the top of the unit. It was tricky to get that shape with brick geometry,” he says. This oval section was especially important to the client, and Kostik was happy to do a few redesigns to make sure Mitsubishi was happy with the look.

“I’m especially proud of the air vents,” Kostik goes on. “Due to the small scale of the model, I decided to do a little cheat and represent them with printed plates rather than brick-built grids, which would not have looked well at this scale. The result is incredibly realistic. That one design decision really elevated the look.”

“I relied heavily on spatial thinking to make sure all the parts fit together like a puzzle,” Kostik says. “The model is built symmetrically, with mirrored parts on each side, which gives it a clean and balanced look. I’m very proud of how it turned out, especially once the full product with packaging came together. It looks polished and realistic, and I hope the client is as thrilled with it as I am.”
