2025 marked LPA’s 60th anniversary and the year they won the American Institute of Architects’ Architecture Firm of the Year Award, the architecture industry’s highest honour. LPA knew a banner year like this one deserved to be commemorated, so they reached out to Playwell Bricks to commission a special custom Playwell Bricks set.

The team at LPA had a firm vision of what their custom set would be. Their design studios all had an iconic red wall displaying the LPA logo, and LPA wanted to see this red wall represented somehow. Ideally, this set would also be functional, something their recipients could not only display but use. After some discussion, they decided that a phone holder would be ideal.

“The LPA Award presented a unique challenge,” Playwell Bricks designer Jared explains. “A functional phone stand at 60 pieces or less, while capturing the iconic red wall of LPA. I was able to capture it right at the cutoff of 60 pieces, without having to rely on decals for the red wall’s notorious slat feature. The final model allows for a phone to stand at a satisfying angle. A charging cable fits through a gap underneath, giving the model great utility.”

The team at LPA requested photos be taken with the latest models of phones to make sure that this custom would function as they hoped, and they were so thrilled with the final results that they immediately increased their original order.
