Jotform is a software-as-a-service company that helps clients boost their productivity with a powerful suite of forms and tools. The Jotform team reached out to Playwell Bricks in 2025, when they were searching for an end-of-year/holiday gift for their top customers.
Jotform Wants a Rocket
Playwell’s contact at Jotform laid out their plan during their discovery call. They explained that Jotform had had so many exciting launches this year that the team wanted a rocket set to symbolize their continued growth, new opportunities, and also capture the excitement of launching into the new year.
Ideally, the client wanted a set that would take “a little bit of time to build” as opposed to something their recipients could put together in 5-10 minutes. The main goal, they shared, was something exciting that their clients could build, put on their desk, and be reminded of Jotform.
The Playwell Bricks showed the client some of the other rockets the team designed over the years, and the client loved the Roomvo Rocket set designed in the early days of Playwell. This was exactly the kind of rocket set that they wanted.
A Rocket Redesign
Ideally, this design could be as simple as adding Jotform’s logo to the existing design, but as test builder Jared Oswald pointed out, “this is a legacy set and our standards have gotten significantly higher since then.”
The designer tackled these changes by approaching the stability factor first. The original set had a stand holding the rocket up from the base, which caused the instability. The best way to deal with this was simply to remove the base and let the rocket stand on its own. Next, the parts were optimized, making sure that the best bricks were in place and that these were available in compatible bricks. Once the client approved these changes, the design was ready.
Because these sets were gifts, the client also asked for printed Build Instructions, which the Playwell team took care to brand for Jotform as much as possible within the limitations of the software. Likewise, printed cards featuring the Jotform rocket with a special New Year’s message were included in every box.
Once completed, these custom-designed sets were carefully packed and sent to Jotform’s top customers around the world. A stellar gift from some out-of-this-world clients!
