For Jay Nolan Community Services 50th anniversary, a custom Playwell Bricks set of two individuals in a rowboat was the only gift that would truly speak to the work they do.

Playwell Bricks CEO Jason Pyett designed this rowboat twosome. He chuckles as he recalls a simple mistake he made in the design. “The rowers were facing the wrong direction! I was unaware that, in a rowboat, the rowers’ backs are pointed to the bow.”

Those rowers are definitely the focus of attention. “The budget was too low to use minifigures,” Jason explains. “So we went with brick built figures. In hindsight, that ended up being a great choice because the brick-built figures are more inclusive than a minifigure could be.”

“It was a really a pleasure working with Jay Nolan Community Services because of the fantastic work they do with the atypical community. Being atypical myself, it meant a lot to me,” Jason tells me.

Once the 250 custom Playwell Bricks sets were delivered, Jay Nolan Community Services got back to him right away. “They look fantastic! Everything looks great and everyone is so excited. All the staff want one now, haha! Thank you for everything!”
