J.W. Swanson and Associates wanted a client appreciation gift that would stand out. Rather than another piece of generic swag, they envisioned something interactive, meaningful, and directly tied to their work. Since clients can engage hands-on with J.W. Swanson’s HVAC equipment in the Swanson Education Center (SEC) trailer, a custom Playwell Bricks set of that very trailer emerged as the perfect solution.

The goal was to create a small-scale model that would capture the essence of the SEC trailer while remaining fun to build and instantly recognizable. It had to include the key interactive elements such as the opening side panel and a glimpse of the HVAC equipment inside, that make the real trailer such an effective demonstration tool.

Playwell Bricks designer Paul Lavallee took on the challenge of working at a microscale, where every detail has to be carefully considered. Through rounds of iteration with different small parts, Paul reimagined the SEC trailer’s signature features with only a handful of bricks. The final design included the requested details, an overhanging awning, and even moving parts, an element that’s unusual for a set of this size. These interactive touches elevated the model from a static display into a playful, memorable experience.

The finished custom set gave J.W. Swanson and Associates a unique client appreciation gift that reinforces their brand story while delighting recipients. While building this custom SEC trailer, clients will be reminded of their experience with the full-sized version, comparing the two, keeping J.W. Swanson at the top of their minds for longer and forging a lasting connection.
