A Gift that does Double Duty

IX Solutions, a boutique IT firm in Western Canada, came to Playwell Bricks with a strong idea of a custom set of their logo. Like many companies, IX solutions wanted their set to be able to function as a milestone trophy for their team members as well as a client gift. Using their logo for this set that would hold its meaning across both recipients.
THE DESIGN
Playwell Bricks CEO Jason Pyett designed the brick version of IX Solution’s logo. To get the branding colours right, he explains that “I had to do the X in white, and then we printed their colours on the uprights to get the two different tones.”
He goes on to say that “the construction is a little unusual, in that you build one side of the X, and then the other. Then you bring them together, and it’s the actual front and back that lock together.” It’s easy to admire this detail as a metaphor for the way IX Solutions connects technology with people.
GROWING PAINS
Jason originally designed this set in January of 2024. He discusses it now, some 18 months later, after fulfilling a reorder of these sets for IX Solutions. “In terms of Playwell Bricks, that first order seems so long ago, because just so much at Playwell Bricks has changed since then,” he explains. “I personally boxed and shipped out that order, getting the packaging done and everything.”
“Nowadays,” he marvels, “I might do the design, but then I wouldn’t touch it.” There is an entire team in place to handle those tasks now.
The reason he considers this now is due to a mistake with the re-ordered sets. Some parts were missing, complicated by the need for some of those to be printed. Once the error was realized, the Playwell team leapt into action, recalling the sets and going through each one with a proverbial fine-tooth comb to fix the error.
CONCLUSION
In the end, the second order of employee gifts was delivered complete and ready for gifting. Playwell Bricks hopes that the staff who reached their milestone mark enjoy their custom trophies and the fun, creative experience of building them.
