Isaac Operations is a Toronto-based consulting firm that helps businesses run smoother, faster, and more profitably. They came to Playwell Bricks searching for anniversary gift for their team members that would mark their Isaac Operations milestones.

Isaac Operations started out as a small, intimate company that made sure to take the time to mark their team’s annual anniversaries with a special gift. It was a tradition they wanted to keep up even as their company grew, but lately they’d grown so significantly that these gifts had become unwieldly and difficult to organize in a way that was meaningful.

“We prefer quality, but also unique and exhaustive, as opposed to giving somebody a gift that they’ll never care about or use,” the client said. They went on to explain that what they’d like to develop was a type of system, with something that could be a base that they could build onto every year and add new years of service.

Once they discovered Playwell Bricks via Google, they realized that bricks would be a good fit for their team, which mostly consists of engineers. “Maybe something like a rocket ship with our logo,” they suggested.

Playwell Bricks designer Eric Dubois Yang tell me this design “was a lengthy process, as we made three versions of the base rocket, which corresponded to three different ways to represent the accumulation of years,” he explains. Some ideas are tricky to get right, but Playwell designers know what they’re doing.

“The final option we went for meant that the production of the rocket and the colourful smoke had to be separate, meaning more communication [with the client] was necessary than most projects.” Gotta get those design approvals!

“I do like the way the side fins connect to the main body, we had to ensure stability and make the building process easy enough,” he tells me.

All of the iterations a project goes through are worth when the client loves their final sets, and Isaac Operations were thrilled with them.
