The Hun School of Princeton is a boarding school in Princeton, New Jersey, USA. A shade known as “Princeton red” is a familiar sight on campus, as are the Princeton red Adirondack chairs where students are invited to sit and take in the campus sights.

Each spring, the school prepares admittance packages to welcome their new students. The theme for this year’s package was “some assembly required,” and the Hun team was looking for a custom Playwell Bricks set that represented their school to include in this package.

After some deliberation, it was decided to create a custom set of a Princeton red Adirondack chair, something that would both fit the theme and also be symbolic of the seat now reserved for the future Hun student.

Playwell Bricks designer Eric Dubois Yang carefully recreated this iconic chair in bricks. “Fun fact,” he says with a grin. “The grass on the side (triangles) was there to hide to red hinges of the chair, because while the real chair sits on the ground, the model needed to attach to the ground at an angle for stability. So, the green base acts as a structural component.”
