Güntner is a major player in the industrial AC and cooling solutions sector, and that means maintain a presence at numerous trade shows and conferences. They’ve certainly seen a lot of conference swag come and go in this capacity, so when called Playwell Bricks to see about a custom branded bricks set of the bestseller V-shape Vario, the team got busy with the design.

Playwell Bricks designer Petrus Gartler was tapped for the design and got started right away. “Creating a miniature version of something that’s quite big in real life always requires that we get the proportions right and find the right level of abstraction. In this case, the characteristic V-shaped side panels were the most important to achieve,” Petrus tells me.

Those panels were tricky. “Designing them in such a way that they could be assembled by a novice builder was my biggest challenge,” Petrus admits. “I was surprised how much work it was and how much physical testing it took to develop a build sequence for novice builders after the visible design was done.”

It sounds easy, but this can be tricky for a seasoned brick designer. It requires them to put aside years of experience and remember what it was like to building with bricks for the first time. Once Güntner approved the design, the team shifted into production to produce and ship out five hundred of these custom Güntner Vario sets for Güntner’s upcoming conferences and trade shows.
