The George P. Johnson Experience Marketing came to Playwell Bricks to request a custom mosaic set for the upcoming Tableau Conference 2025 (TC25). Known as “the ultimate data visualization showdown,” this conference brings together users of Tableau’s visual analytics platform to inspire and explore the possibilities of the future. From Playwell Bricks, they wanted a mosaic of the conference’s anagram, TC25.

WHY BRICKS?
Playable bricks have long been used as a metaphor for pieces of data, and it works on multiple levels. Disorganized data is much like a box full of unsorted bricks, and data analysts work similar to brick users, sorting the bricks to see what they have, organizing them according to their attributes, like colour or the number of studs. The metaphor would be a good one if it ended there, but this one can continue, as a completed brick build can be compared to a data story as well.
At the conference, the TC25 mosaic tiles were displayed above a large display of bricks, ready for organization and a bit of fun.
THE MOSAIC
Playwell Bricks CEO and designer Jason Pyett enjoys creating mosaics out of bricks. “And I always love creating text in LEGO® form,” he goes on to tell me. It was important that the letters matched the font of the TC25 logo, which Jason says “was a fun challenge to replicate.”
Since this custom Playwell Bricks was commissioned as a display model, the Playwell Bricks team built and glued each of the four mosaic tiles before shipping it to the client, where they were set up and ready for the conference to begin!
