In 2021, Stink Studios approached Playwell Bricks CEO Jason Pyett to advise that they were working with Google to aid in the rebranding of what was to become the Google Bug Hunters Program. As part of this rebrand, they wanted to create ten different gift sets to represent the different aspects of Google. These gifts would be distributed to the ethical hackers that search for coding bugs in Google programs, enabling Google to ensure that their systems work and work well.

One of these sets should represent the Android operating system, a system that’s most commonly used in touch-screen technology, such as mobile phones and tablets. This system was developed by Open Handset Alliance, which was led by Google, so it’s an important part of the Bug Hunters program.

Playwell’s contact at Stink Studios requested the Android logo, one of a compact little robot, be the subject of the Android set. But this set should be more than just a cute character; it needed a practical edge that would make this gift’s recipients want to keep and display it on their desk.

This was achieved when Jason designed this set to contain a secret compartment inside where a USB or thumb drive could be stored. Once built, the character’s head pops up on a hinge, revealing the secret compartment.

Taking it one step further, Jason designed this compartment to showcase Google’s brand colours, offering a delightful splash of colour.

This set was one of ten sets commissioned for the Google Bug Hunters, and Playwell Bricks is proud that this project represents the beginning of a change in Playwell’s trajectory into corporate gifting.
