A Pino Bear for the Garberhof Hotel
PARTS COUNT: 92 PIECES
Dimensions (cm): 5.6(W) x 6.4(L) x 7.7(H)
Nestled in the Dolomite Alps, the Garberhof Hotel caters to young families out to make their first vacation memories. While parents take a break at the spa or out skiing, the kids enjoy adventures in Pino-land, a two-storey playpark hosted by the Garberhof children’s mascot, Pino the Bear. It’s this bear that the Garberhof came to Playwell Bricks to commission a custom set of, after all, what better souvenir of a family vacation than a custom Playwell Bricks set of your children’s beloved ursine host?

DESIGNING PINO IN BRICKS
Playwell Bricks designer Pedro Lara was tapped to design this special bear. “This was a fun set to design,” Pedro tells me, “because it’s simple, but looks fluffy!”
At the request of the client, Pedro designed Pino to be sitting down, wearing his trademark green scarf, and with a rounded belly. That belly was tricky to achieve in a set this size, but once Pedro hit upon the right pieces, Pino’s belly protruded nicely. “There are no special techniques,” says Pedro, “but I like how the fluff of the Pino bear was achieved, and especially the ear shape.”
THE PINO TRADITION CONTINUES
Garberhof lore says that Pino the Bear came down from his cave in the mountains to build Pino-land so he could play with and welcome children there. Here at Playwell Bricks, we have to appreciate the sweet serendipity that Pedro and his wife had their baby as he was designing this brick Pino! Pino the Bear’s memory-making legacy continues, as I’m sure Pedro will always have a special place in his heart for the beloved children’s bear set he was designing when he welcomed little Davi to his family. Congratulations Pedro!
