The Missing Piece of the Promotional Puzzle

Experian is well known to clients who want to retrieve their credit scores, but Experian wanted to highlight a very different aspect of their business for an upcoming conference: the data quality and governance of their Aperture Data Studio. When they came to Playwell Bricks, they were searching for a promotional item for prospects and leads that would tangibly represent this part of their business.

BUT WHAT TO DESIGN?

Clients often come to Playwell Bricks unsure of what they should have designed. “The challenge is representing something that doesn’t have a real, tangible representation,” explains Playwell Bricks CEO Jason Pyett. “It’s usually a matter of digging down into what companies actually do, rather than the product they offer. It’s bit of a deeper way of thinking about those kind of things.”

In this case, Jason showed the client the puzzle box Playwell Bricks designed for Figma. At first, something similar seemed the way to go, but then the client had a different idea: what about a more traditional, jigsaw-type puzzle? They were already imagining, “Experian: the missing piece of your Data Quality puzzle.”

THE PUZZLE

Jason had never designed a brick-built jigsaw puzzle before, but he’s always up for a challenge. “It didn’t take me that long to figure it out,” says the man with a decade of brick design experience backing him up. He grins. “So know I know I could do full-sized [jigsaw] puzzle.”

But he’s also quick to point out that the brick puzzle isn’t exactly like a typical, cardboard puzzle. “They slide down, but they have to fit one on top of the other, unlike a typical puzzle where the hole is the whole way through. So there’s an actual order to it; the purple one has to go first, then the two blues one and then the pink one, because in any other order, it doesn’t work.” A puzzle within a puzzle!

The puzzle pieces were the perfect spot to show off Experian’s brand colours, complete with their logo on the lower right.
