How This Custom Set Commemorates a Major Milestone
Introduction
ENI has been engaged in a major liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in the coastal Republic of Congo that aims to deliver electricity to sub-Saharan Africa and Europe. Entering phase 2 of their Congo LNG project marked a major milestone of this project, and one that ENI wanted to commemorate.
The Challenge
The addition of a second floating liquefied natural gas plant (FLNG) to increase production marked Phase 2 of the Congo LNG project, and ENI wanted a custom set of this vessel, the Nguya FLNG, as a gift to commemorate this milestone. The challenge of recreating such a vessel in miniature is, in part, due to the vast amount of piping required to truly represent the vessel’s function and purpose, that can be difficult to translate into miniature.
The Solution
Playwell Bricks designer Yvonne Strijbos is no stranger to recreating offshore vessels for Playwell Bricks clients. “It’s not easy to get the right feel of a ship that has 10 million or more pipes in real life down to this scale, but I do think this set is a recognisable miniature of the Nguya FLNG.”
She goes on to explain that she accomplishes this by “focusing on some of the more prominent structures and compressing the rest.”
Beyond the design of the custom set itself, ENI also shared a significant amount of content to be included in the Build Instructions. This included a letter from the ENI Congo CEO, a statement of their Congo LNG project’s mission and goals, as well as infographics explaining the different parts of the vessel and their purposes.
The REsult
With this custom Nguya FLNG set, ENI Congo has a meaningful, unique gift with which to commemorate entering phase 2 of their Congo LNG project. By including the company and project goals in the Build Instructions, as well as sharing details of the vessel itself, recipients of this commemorative gift will have the opportunity to learn more about the project and this company while engaged in building.
