Emerson is an industry leader in industrial technologies who came to Playwell Bricks when their team was planning for the Emerson Exchange 2025 trade show. As part of their dynamic presentations, they requested that Playwell Bricks create several models to illustrate an infographic which represented Emerson’s electric power distribution network.

This meant thirteen sets all told, including a nuclear power plant, wind turbines, solar and hydro power generation, transformer control engineer, a transmission substation, a distribution substation microgrid, a thermostat, an electric vehicle, and finally, a transmission tower.

Playwell Bricks designer Tim Howell is happy to talk about his experience designing these sets. “This project was both fun and challenging to design a varied collection of models that needed to all be about the same size, so the scales were totally different. For instance, the thermostat is the same size as the office worker, and they're both the same size as the nuclear power plant.”

It’s not the first time a Playwell Bricks designer has had to distort reality, after all.

Tim tells me a little more about the thermostat, whose shape was challenging, “the thermostat uses some sideways building techniques in order to create the round shape.” He goes on to tell me that, “Overall, the biggest challenge was to create all these different models at this small size while remaining within the project budget.”

Happily, the rest of the Playwell Bricks team is always on hand to brainstorm new techniques and methods to get the sets down to size.

Once approved, these sets moved into production and delivery. Our contact at Emerson was happy to get back to us with a 10/10 for customer service, advising that Playwell Bricks was “very helpful and followed up frequently.” They did mention that they would have appreciated “more information up front” on how the process works, which is the kind of feedback Playwell Bricks adores, because we are always looking for ways to improve.

Beyond that, they advised that “Playwell provides very knowledgeable customer service staff that can offer many solutions. Their work was quality and I'm sure it will be a hit at our upcoming conference.”
