Playwell Bricks designer James May began working from two architectural schematics. To begin, “I made [a prototype] to gauge the size and basic shapes,” and sent it as a concept to the client.

The contact got back to James with an enthusiastic response, more reference images, and a few experimental ideas. What about a roof that could slide off? What if the room could open? James considered the possibilities and returned with a roofed concept with a hinge that could open much like a dollhouse would.

The client loved this idea, and the team shifted to graphics and production, delivering 500 sets for Cummings Electrical’s client appreciation gift.
