Continental Truck Tires came to Playwell Bricks to commission a microscale semi-truck for a tradeshow giveaway. The full purpose of this tradeshow giveaway was to showcase their long haul tires and celebrate their new partnership with Samara Smart Trailer Solutions, so both the tires and the trailer were important to feature on this custom semi-truck set.

Playwell Bricks CEO Jason Pyett has mentioned more than once that he loves designing vehicles at this scale, but this time, he didn’t do it alone. Instead, he worked from a model fellow Playwell Bricks designer Jared Oswald created, tweaking the design to match Continental’s brand colours as well as making the trailer detachable, which Continental requested. Employing a latching mechanism to hitch the trailer to the cab (shown above) made this possible, an impressive detail for a build this small.

Unfortunately, as happens sometimes, this is one design that didn’t go off without a hitch. Jason explains, “ALWAYS have multiple people check files before being finalized. We missed the fact that only one sticker was being printed per set and two needed to be done.” This decal was the Continental logo, which the client wanted on BOTH sides of the trailer, not just one. An important piece! Working with the client, “we quickly corrected that once the client informed us of the issue,” says Jason.

Despite the decal drama, Continental Truck Tires had the sets on hand for their trade show and the Playwell team was delighted to see the custom Continental Truck Tire sets make an appearance on Continental’s official Linkedin page.
