Compass Building Systems provides self-storage buildings for metro Atlanta (U.S.A.) and east of the Mississippi. The Compass Building Systems team prides itself on delivering quality, timely self-storage buildings with single to multi-level systems based on their clients’ needs.
The Challenge
During their discovery call, a representative from Compass Building Systems explained that they’d like to commission a custom Playwell Bricks set as a promotional item.
The client explained that they’d come up with a concept that would have a wide appeal: their set would focus on their office dog, Arlo. “We’d like the theme of this set to be that Arlo needs space for all his dog toys,” the client explained.
Their vision, they went on, was a storage facility showcasing their logo and Arlo sitting on top, surrounded by all of his toys, some of which should be shown in a self-storage bay.
The Solution
The Playwell Bricks designer started with Arlo’s toys, going through the brick catalogue to see what was available and also to give this build a sense of scale. Arlo would need to be bigger than his toys, so the Arlo part of this set would be brick-built.
From there, the self-storage facility became the base. On the roof, arrow pieces were used to create the points of the compass rose in the logo, and the happy brick-built pup sits on top, tongue lolling and surrounded by his colourful toys. Decals attached to smooth, studless bricks reveal Compass Building System’s full logo and their marketing slogan, “the right direction in self storage.”
Below is an open self-storage bay, with more of Arlo the dog’s toys spilling out. Along the rest of the building section are more bays; these ones closed up to best convey the real-life experience.
The Result
Using their office dog and his toys in this way is a clever and appealing way to convey the purpose of self-storage to people across industries. It also makes building this set a fun family event that’s sure to create memories that keep Compass Building Systems top of mind with potential customers.
