Sometimes a company comes to Playwell Bricks looking for a custom set of one of their best-selling products. THE DESIGN
Playwell Bricks designer Eric Dubois Yang explains this custom set as an “F1-type race car with commercetool’s brand colours and logo decals.”
When he first unveiled the initial design to the team, they were thrilled. “Did you include blur lines to indicate speed? That’s genius!” said one of his fellow designers, referring to the extra pieces to the rear of the car. It’s a fun element that really showcases Eric’s creative skill and adds to the effect that commercetools was searching for.
Eric actually designed two differently-sized race cars at commercetool’s request. “It was pretty fun to design two versions of similar size but with a different level of budget and detail.” He goes on to explain that “both cars roll and feel substantial, both have good playability while also having these black bases for display purposes.”
INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED
Playwell Bricks always encourages our clients to include marketing elements in the build instructions, and commercetools took this opportunity to really build on the race car metaphor and symbolism for their brand. By highlighting comparisons between the race car and their product, this section prepares recipients to “leave your competitor in the dust!”
