The Texas red drum is one of the Conservation Council Association (CCA)’s success stories. In the 1970’s, overfishing dwindled the red drum’s stocks to record lows, but through a series of legislation and fisheries management techniques, the CCA and partner organizations worked to restock the redfish. These efforts were successful, restoring the red fish population and proving to the CCA what their dedication could accomplish.

As a nonprofit, the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) of Texas hosts many fundraising events throughout the year. “When you’re creating a model of living creature from plastic bricks, it can take some time to come up with a good combination of colors and shapes that represent the real thing,” admits Playwell Bricks designer Tim Howell.

“The base looks like a seabed with plants,” he adds, explaining that he worked off a picture he found in the CCA’s archives, “I felt this gave the overall model more context and a better final result.”
