How this Custom Set Celebrates CBCL’s Northern Projects
Introduction
Founded in 1955, CBCL Limited is an engineering and environmental consulting firm that provides design, project management, and construction management services, including specialized sectors. A representative from CBCL reached out to Playwell Bricks to see about a custom set that they could give out at trade shows.
The Challenge
At their discovery call, the client explained that they were looking for an animal set that represented Northern Canada, where the company was engaged in multiple projects. They were thinking of a polar bear, or possibly a narwhal, as the subject of this set.
After a few prodding questions, both teams decided that they wanted something regal-looking rather than cutesie, not too big, and whichever animal they chose, it should have the CBCL logo on its side.
The Solution
Playwell designer Eric Dubois Yang sent a few polar bear concepts that the CBCL just didn’t get excited about, so they requested he try the narwhal instead. He took care to create a narwhal in a realistic pose, also designing a stand so that this regal unicorn of the sea could look like it was moving majestically through the Arctic seas. This attention paid off, as the first narwhal concept he sent was a hit.
Now was the time to focus on the details. The client requested that Eric adjust the length of the narwhal’s iconic, long tusk and make some changes to the appearance of the eyes. CBCL’s logo was added to the side of the narwhal.
In the meantime, the CBCL team was also preparing marketing content to include in the build instructions. This content highlighted the company’s multidisciplinary, Northern projects, an excellent way to remind their potential clients of the work they do after the trade show has ended.
The Result
With this custom Playwell Bricks narwhal set, CBCL Limited has a fully branded trade show giveaway that is definitely regal rather than cutesie. This is a set that celebrates Northern Canada and its unique, natural beauty. It also highlights the projects that CBCL has undertaken in the North, reminding recipients who CBCL is and what the many disciplines they operate within.
