Cast AI is a Kubernetes optimization platform that helps companies automatically manage and cut their cloud infrastructure costs. They’re also a company that appreciates and values their clients, so when they wanted swag for their Custom Journey Program, Cast AI set up a discovery call with Playwell Bricks to discuss their ideas and see what was possible.

The team at Cast AI shared mock-ups of their vision with the Playwell team: a race car and a space shuttle. The race car set would be delivered to a new client when they sign the deal, as a symbol of the acceleration to come. Once the new client completed the onboarding process, they would receive the space shuttle set.

Playwell Bricks designer Petrus Gartler took the lead in recreating Cast AI’s vision in bricks. When he submitted the first concepts, Playwell’s contact at Cast AI liked the race car right away, but requested some changes to the space shuttle to more closely match their vision.

Minifigures were soon added to the sets, a driver and a captain, complete with helmets. Decals were added with the Cast AI logo, the race car reading “Welcome to Cast AI,” while the space shuttle read “Cast AI Automated,” to represent the different levels.

"I wanted to create a design that let us integrate the minifigures smoothly into the car and space shuttle,” Petrus explains. “With some changes in build direction around the space shuttle's cockpit, I achieved a very low-sitting and protected-looking pilot. With the race car, I wanted to have detailed air intakes and a racing-type steering wheel."

The team at Cast AI also placed a congratulatory message at the beginning of the Build Instructions, reminding the builders of their accomplishment and everything this custom Playwell Bricks set represents.
