When a top NYC private boy’s school wanted to give potential students something to remember from their school visit, they knew they needed a gift that represented who they are and what they represent to those potential students. A generic gift would not do, so the Browning School reached out to Playwell Bricks.

Playwell’s contact at the Browning School was impressed by brick sets they’d seen designed and wanted something similar created of their school mascot, a black panther. As they would later explain in the build instructions of this set, “The Panther has long stood as a symbol of quiet strength, focus, and determination—all qualities we believe reflect the spirit of Browning students. Agile and courageous, the Panther represents how our students move through the world: with intellect, compassion, and purpose. At Browning, the Panther is more than a mascot—it’s a reminder of who we are and who we strive to become.”

When a mascot holds this much symbolic weight, it’s important to get the design right.

Playwell Bricks designer Kostik Poloskin was tapped for this project. As a designer, Kostik strives to create the best sets he can each and every time. He begins by scouring resources for sets similar to his subject and pulling what he likes best before creating something entirely unique. And while every iteration of this panther set was stunning, sometimes it takes a few redesigns to capture the spirit of the set as the client wants it. Undiscouraged, Kostik kept on, delivering what he hoped would be exactly what the Browning School wanted, until he finally did.

The result is a stunning set that, with a few tweaks, had a fully rotational tail and was attached to the base (where a decal of the Browning School logo proudly sits) by the hind legs only, giving the builder a chance to change the panther’s pose. It also means that the panther can be detached from the base entirely for independent play, which the younger kids will love.

After delivery, Browning School sent us this feedback: “10 out of 10; we received excellent service and communication.” A happy client that now has a custom designed set of their beloved mascot to inspire their future students: that’s what Playwell Bricks considers success.
