Berkshire Global Advisors has been advising companies on mergers and acquisitions for over forty years. When they reached the end of a deal, Berkshire Global Advisors chose to develop a commemorative deal toy for the deal team and client. They scheduled a discovery call with Playwell Bricks to see if it was possible to create a custom deal toy set complete with the client’s logos and branding.
Designing the Warehouse
Playwell’s contact at Berkshire Global Advisors had a vision of their custom set. They imagined a warehouse with a somewhat-detailed interior, a few trucks, employees in hard hats, and a removable roof. They specifically wanted the roof to be printed with the details of the deal this set was being created for. After some discussion with Playwell Bricks about how this roof would work, Playwell designer Michael Hyde ultimately created a roof that could be lifted off and set into a recess that holds the same section up in a billboard fashion.
Next, Berkshire wondered if it was possible for the front to open on the sides, like a dollhouse, to allow for greater playability. Michael added a few hinges to each side to make this possible, allowing the front section, when the roof is in the billboard position, to split open and swing to the sides, separating the loading bays from the pallet racking inside.
Next came the Northbridge logos on the micro-figures and the sides of the trucks. Once these were finalized, the team at Berkshire requested that trucks be positioned half and half out of the warehouse. It’s a small detail, but it gives the finished set a sense of being active, a nice nod to Northbridge.

When the whole team is involved, a custom set can have a lot of changes and suggestions involved, but Playwell Bricks learned early that every detail culminates into something that allows the client’s team to truly appreciate the finished set.
