When Apprentis Ventures, an early-stage investment firm focused on AI-driven startups, set out to create a promotional giveaway, they wanted something that would do more than display their logo. Known for their apprenticeship model that helps founders learn, grow, and succeed, they wanted a build that represented their philosophy of building together.

That’s what led them to Playwell Bricks and together, the two brands created a design rich with symbolism, playfulness, and purpose.

Apprentis wanted their custom set to do more than simply look like their logo. They envisioned a piece that embodied their values: mentorship, collaboration, and construction, both literal and metaphorical.
Their logo, shaped by two leaning blocks forming an “A,” symbolizes mutual support and shared strength. The challenge was to translate that meaning into a tactile, interactive build that captured both their identity and their mission.

Playwell Bricks designer Petrus Gartler led the design process, embracing the client’s desire for a “brick-built” aesthetic. “Clients usually want to hide the bricks,” Petrus explained. “In this case, they wanted the opposite, they wanted the bricks to show.”

The final design emphasized construction in progress, complete with hinges allowing the structure to tilt and lean, echoing Apprentis’ belief that “our strength lies in how we support each other.” To make the experience more interactive, Petrus added minifigures assembling the logo, a creative twist that delighted the client and perfectly expressed their collaborative spirit.

The final set is a story in miniature, celebrating how Apprentis helps startups build their foundation brick by brick. The thoughtful symbolism and clean, deliberate design made the set a standout representation of their mission and approach.

It became a memorable, meaningful gift that left a strong impression on everyone who received it, transforming a simple logo display into a tactile reminder of growth, mentorship, and connection.
