Amgen Ireland is a pioneer in the field of biotechnology as well as the major sponsor of the Amgen Irish Open, a professional golf tournament. Sponsoring this tournament gives Amgen Ireland the chance to “support their community and celebrate moments of national pride.”

The tournament also offers Amgen a unique opportunity to promote what they do and inspire curiosity about biotechnology. What they needed from Playwell Bricks was a promotional item that would highlight the innovative and collaborative spirit of Amgen Ireland that would appeal to the younger crowd and students attending the tournament.

Amgen Ireland requested a custom Playwell Bricks set of a modern biotechnology science lab. Ideally, this set would showcase a typical lab environment, with modular workstations, equipment, computers, and a scientist in appropriate lab gear. All while incorporating Amgen’s brand colours and logos.

Playwell Bricks designer Petrus Gartler designed the set to include Amgen’s wishlist of lab details, down to a spare set of minifig hands to represent the blue nitrile gloves required in the lab environment.

Amgen Ireland also added brand messaging as well as fun facts about their field to the set’s Build Instructions, so their recipients could learn about biotechnology as they build. Why? As they wrote into the instructions themselves, “every young mind we inspire today could help solve the next big medical breakthrough of tomorrow.”

With these custom Playwell Bricks sets on hand to share at the Amgen Irish Open, Amgen Ireland’s team seized the chance to inspire young minds and highlight the innovative and collaborative spirit that Amgen Ireland takes such pride in.

The only small challenge was editing the instructions. It was a bit tricky to visualise where changes would appear, so making that process a little more seamless would be great. But overall, this was a very minor issue in an otherwise fantastic experience!”
