When a father wanted a wedding gift that would truly stand out, something personal, tactile, and unforgettable, he turned to Playwell Bricks. The father sent photos of the property, which featured several buildings, a windmill, and a large outdoor tent. The task for Playwell designer Eric Dubois Yang was monumental: to translate those images into a complex yet modular build that balanced scale, accuracy, and buildability, all within a realistic budget.

Angled structures, intricate architectural details, and the delicate draping of the chuppah and wedding tent required careful problem-solving. Each section had to be sturdy, aesthetically pleasing, and easy to assemble. A true test of creative engineering.

Eric spent over six weeks bringing the design to life, tackling every challenge with technical precision and artistry. “The sheer size of the base, paired with the angled orientation of some of the houses, proved to be a great challenge,” he explains. “It took me one and a half months of full-time designing to finish it!”

Working closely with the client, Eric used additional reference photos to fine-tune the details that mattered most. The tent and windmill became standout features, each requiring inventive approaches: upside-down hinging and hidden bar connections for sloped walls, and a lightweight, removable frame for the fabric tent structure.

When it came time for instructions, Playwell team member Paul Lavallée created over 1,000 pages of step-by-step guidance; a testament to both the set’s scale and the dedication behind it.

The finished build was a showstopping, heartfelt gift that captured the spirit of the wedding in miniature. It wasn’t just a model, it was a story, crafted brick by brick, and a testament to how play can express connection, creativity, and care.
