Since 1922, the Valero Texas Open has been attracting golf fans. This annual
event is on the PGA Tour and takes place at the TPC San Antonio Oaks Course. In
addition to golf, the event offers a family-friendly venue called ‘the Backyard’
where all are welcome to attend and find souvenirs of the event.

Playwell’s contact from the Valero Texas Open wanted a golf-themed set to
offer at the spring event. This could be a Texas boot, a golf cart, or a trophy.
To dig a bit deeper, the Playwell Bricks designer joined in on a meeting to
share ideas and get a feel for what was wanted. Soon, the idea solidified: a
custom Playwell Bricks set of the 16th green at TPC San Antonio The
Oaks Course.

Using photographs from the client and some found online, the designer recreated
the challenging green golfers refer to as the “avocado hole” due to its shape
and placement of the bunkers, or sand traps. In addition to the green, the
stands were included, featuring the Country and State flags of Texas via decals.
The Valero Texas Open logo is featured to the side of the green, a place of
pride that also always the builder to play through.

With this custom 16th green set, the Valero Texas Open has a distinctive, unique, and instantly recognizable set to offer golf fans as a souvenir of the event. Featuring the avocado, state flags, and the logo, this set is sure to bring back fond memories of the event for years to come.
